Description

• Lock Body/Case: The main housing that contains the internal mechanisms, designed to be installed within a cavity in the door.
• Door Thickness: These locks are generally designed to fit standard door thicknesses ranging from approximately 28mm to 55mm.
• Latch Bolt: The spring-loaded component with an angled edge that automatically extends into the strike plate when the door closes, holding it shut.
• Deadbolt: The solid, square-shaped bolts that provide enhanced security. Unlike the latch, the deadbolt is operated manually, typically by a key or a thumb-turn, and slides deep into the door frame to lock it securely.
• Faceplate: The visible metal plate on the edge of the door that covers the internal mechanism and ensures the latch and bolts are properly guided into the strike plate.
• Strike Plate: The separate metal plate (shown to the right in the image) that is installed on the door frame. It has holes aligned to receive the latch and deadbolt, reinforcing the frame and preventing forced entry.
• Spindle Mechanism: Inside the lock, a rod (spindle) connects the interior and exterior handles. When the handle is turned, the spindle rotates to retract the latch bolt, allowing the door to open.
